Trip to Bangkok - Last Day

Being the last day is always a sad days.
On this day, all of us went to the Chatuchak weekend market. Bernard and I spend about 2 hours only there. You can go there by SkyTrain to Mo Chit station.

Some of the shirts there are damn cheap. The quality are quite good too. Most of the T-shirts cost only below RM10. You get discounts if buy more.

More details below:-

This is paradise for bargain hunters. Every Saturday and Sunday, 9,000 individual booths are open selling an infinite variety of goods. It is just about impossible to go to Chatuchak Weekend Market and not buy anything. There is just about everything that bargain hunters, home makers, pet lovers or just browsers can imagine.

Handicrafts are every where including pottery, hand-made glass models of the Royal Barges, fluffy toys, colourful tropical fish, singing birds puppies of many breeds, furniture and lots of new and second hand clothing, shoes, handbags, belts. There is so much on offer that even international home decor wholesales come here to shop.

Music lovers can find unique traditional Thai musical instruments being sold direct by the artisans who have crafted them to make the pleasing sounds. One rule for all shoppers to observe is bargain, bargain, bargain. This is part of the fun and also gets you the best prices.

Chatuchak Weekend Market has interesting products from all over Thailand as well as things from far off lands.

You should allow the best part of a whole day to explore the many stalls. You never know what you will find. But this is work that will make you thirsty and puckish, so take a break here and there to cool off with a fresh fruit juice or feast on delicious Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, barbecue chicken, noodles and sweets.

Just look at the prices of all those shirts etc. Simply irresistible.

Just like our Sunday Market but much BIGGER!

We should have spend the whole day shopping there but we have to checkout from the hotel around 12 noon and take a taxi to Suvarnabhumi airport for our flight back to KL.

Trip to Bangkok - Day 3

On the 3rd day, this is the time where we are free to roam anywhere we want to go.

Bernard and I planned to visit the shopping centres. Before that, we make a short stop at the Hard Rock cafe to change my shirt. I originally got M but I should have bought the L size instead. Luckily they allow us to change the shirt in within 3 days after purchase.

I spotted the new 2007 Toyota Vios on the way there. It's damn beautiful after being installed with the latest spoiler and etc.

The Toyota showroom is very nicely decorated with internet cafe, and they even have an F1 car there. This is what I called a surprise as they don't host F1 races but they have an F1 car in the showroom!! Lucky bastards!! The F1 model looks like a TF105.

Our first stop was at Phrom Phong station. We visited the Emporium shopping centre. This place is like Siam Paragon with branded goods.

Later, we stop by at the Asok station and visited Robinson shopping centre. It was a much more better place to shop.

We finally managed to find a McDonald restaurant here for lunch at 2 PM. Without further delay, we ordered the McPork regular.

Mouth watering McPork

You're in Heaven with one bite

The taste is similar to 'bak kua' or minced pork meat. It's very delicious. Most of the fast food here are non-halal. Dunno about KFC which we didn't try.

Trip to Bangkok - Day 2

On the second day, all of us visited the Grand Palace. You must visit the Grand Palace should you go to Bangkok.

We took the SkyTrain from Saphan Kwai to Siam and interchange for the SkyTrain heading to the National Stadium.

From the National Stadium, get a taxi to go there. Not all taxis will agree to take you to some of the destinations due to jams. We managed to get a taxi to take us there eventually.

We quenched our thirst by drinking coconut water outside the grand palace. Only RM 2.

Business is good. By noon, all the coconuts are sold out. We managed to try the normal coconuts. Best of all is their Pandan Coconut, better than our own local pandan.

Here's some of the many pics that I shot on that day.

Grand Palace entrance. Tourists are flowing in everyday.

Later, we ride on a tuk-tuk to go to other tourist spots for only RM10.00. You have to be careful as they could bring you to other places that you do not intend to visits. :)

After we visited the temples, we set off for China Town and took our dinner there.

They still have the bottle Coke!!

After a tiring day of walking, 3 of us went to get a foot massage. The cost is only RM20.00 per hour and this is cheap compared to KL or other places. I definately recommend anyone to try. Body massage cost RM 32.00 for 2 hours. OMG!!

Trip to Bangkok - Day 1

Well, it feels so good to be back and are able to write up something for my next blog. Been MIA for a while. I was in Bangkok for vacation with Bernard, Yang and Lai.

We took the AirAsia 9.50PM flight from Kuching to LCC-T.

We stayed overnite in LCC-T by sleeping on the plastic chair. Some prefers to sleep on the ground. Sleeping on the plastic chair was a bad idea as it was not really comfortable. We're all very excited as ever to start the trip.

We took the earliest flight around 7:10 AM and it took nearly 2 hours to reach Bangkok. The sight from above the plane was awesome. All the lands are fully utilized and looks like a square cakes from above the plane. Actually, they're paddy fields. :P

Around 9 AM, we finally landed at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Yang already booked our accomodation at Sena Place Hotel through online booking. We took a taxi to reach the hotel. The jam was terrible in Bangkok and the taxi driver was driving like an F1 driver. Cutting traffics here and there.
Luckily the driver knew how to speak English a bit otherwise we are all lost. :)

We finally arrived at the hotel around noon time.

Room 1415. Quite small for a superior room.

After unpacking, we went for lunch at one of the supermarket called Big C. In here, we need to pay minimum 100 Baht to get a prepaid card. Once your food is ready, present the card to the operator and they will swipe it to charge the food amount. So convenient. Don't have to queqe up at the counter.

You can return the card at the counter and get back your balance. How I wish Tun Jugah have this facility. :)

On the way back to our hotel, we spotted a lady selling local foods. Being curious as to why many people are buying, we bought 3 each. One cost 80 cents.

Local food seller. She speaks a bit of hokkien. We're caught by surprised when she replied us.

Tada!! Nicely wrapped in banana leaf.

Made up of glutonious rice, coconut milk and pandan flavored topping. It tasted very nice. Sweet and filling. Best to take while it's hot. You will sure to want buy more.

Around 3 PM, we started to visit some of the shopping centers in the city center. We mostly used the SkyTrain and taxi during this trip. Sometimes we go for the infamous Tuk-Tuk.

The Hard Rock Cafe.

The night markets here are very famous for selling lots of cheaps local products such as garments to fake branded products. You have to bargain for the prices with the seller if you plan to buy from them. Sometimes you might get a cheaper price of up to 70% than the current price.

Suan Lum Night Bazaar

After spending nearly 2 hours there, we rest at the nearby hawker stalls. There's about 10 stalls selling local foods. I ordered the fried kueh teow pattaya. It tasted OK. The local cuisines are quite reasonable if you know where to find them.

Farewell Lunch with Kenneth

It was Kenneth's last day today and we had organized a farewell lunch with him. 14 people from office attended the lunch at Pizza Hut Semariang.
We wish 'Good Luck' to Kenneth on his future plans and jobs.

These are some pictures that we took that day.
